Without research, palliative care is an art, not a science.

General Eligibility

The following eligibility requirements pertain to all applicants to the NPCRC Grants Program. However, interested applicants should review the additional eligibilty requirements specified under each of the four different types of NPCRC Funding Opportunities before applying.

  • Applicants must hold a doctorate degree (M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent);
  • Applicants must have a full-time faculty position or equivalent at a college, university, medical school, nursing school or other fiscally responsible organization within the United States by the time of the award start date.
  • Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. If the applicant is not a U.S. citizen, then he/she must submit proof of his/her permanent resident status (e.g. a copy the applicant's Permanent Resident card or a letter from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services).
  • Applicants may only apply for one award per deadline. Investigators who are receiving an active NPCRC grant may apply for another award in the last year of their grant if that last year concludes by the time the new funding year begins.
  • Junior Faculty Career Development awardees cannot hold a Pilot/Exploratory Project Support Grant concurrently.
  • Prior recipients of a Junior Faculty Career Development Award may not receive another NPCRC career development award.
