Ann Horgas, PhD, RN, FAAN
Dr. Ann Horgas is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Florida. From 2004-2009, she also served as the Associate Dean for Research.

Dr. Horgas' program of research focuses on pain and aging. She has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on a number of research projects funded by the National Institute on Aging, National Institute of Nursing Research, and the American Nurses Foundation. She has done extensive research in the assessment and management of pain in older adults with dementia, and has investigated the impact of chronic pain on physical health, mental health, and everyday functioning in elders. She has recently expanded her research to investigate the relationships between pain and other symptoms and variability in pain over time.

Dr. Horgas received her B.S. and M.S. in Nursing (Adult Health), and her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the Gerontology and Geriatrics department at Free University of Berlin in Germany, where she investigated the role of pain in elderly adults within the context of the Berlin Aging Study.

Dr. Horgas is a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America and the American Academy of Nursing. She has received many awards including the Springer Award for Geriatric/Gerontological Nursing, and the Doval Award for Excellence in Nursing Education.
